Part of the 2024-25 Student Spotlight Series, featuring Braxton Dalton of Raymond, Neb.
Braxton Dalton, Wayne State’s Student Trustee for the Nebraska State College System (NSCS), is this week’s focus in the Student Spotlight Series. Dalton, a junior from Raymond, Neb., is majoring in Business Administration/Marketing.
Dalton says serving as the NSCS Student Trustee has the tremendous perk of being able to visit the other state college campuses. However, truth be told, he admits he never initially thought about coming to Wayne State.
“UNL was right in my back yard, and I had my mind made up to go there,” said Dalton. “But the opportunities never presented themselves there. After that, I researched Wayne State’s Career Scholars Program and was invited to campus for an interview and a tour.”
That tour – and tour guide – impacted Dalton in a way he’d never forget.
“Blake Bartling (admissions counselor) gave me a fantastic tour of campus, and I bet he introduced me to at least 40 people – and he knew all of them,” said Dalton. “I immediately fell in love with the campus, and I’ve embraced every aspect of it and all of the activities that Wayne State has to offer.”
“The UNL tour guide didn’t know anyone, and the entire tour felt scripted and impersonal,” added Dalton.
Currently, Dalton is working with the other state college student trustees to examine the role of student government on campus. They hope to bring student-driven policy to the state colleges.
At Wayne State, Dalton is also active in Future Business Leaders of America, Delta Sigma Pi (professional business fraternity), the Wayne State Student Senate, and the Cooperative Education Career Scholars Program. He also serves as a resident assistant in Morey Hall.
Dalton will graduate in May 2026, and he intends to pursue a career in marketing and sales.
