Student Spotlight: Ella Scott

Part of the 2024-25 Student Spotlight Series, featuring Ella Scott of Randolph, Neb.

Ella ScottElla Scott of Randolph takes center stage this week in the Student Spotlight Series. Scott is a freshman majoring in Pre-Dental Hygiene at Wayne State.

In fact, Scott had her eye on Wayne State since her sophomore year at Randolph High School when a career day trip to campus had a tremendous impact on her.

“I always had a goal of being an RHOP (Rural Health Opportunities Program) student, and that career day helped seal the deal for me,” said Scott. “The campus is fantastic, and I love being close to home. I really like it here. My parents and brother loved it here, too. All of them are Wayne State alumni.”

Scott said she has family members currently working in the dental hygiene field, and that helped influence her decision as well.

At Wayne State, Scott is active in the Wildcat Academy of Leadership and Knowledge (WALK) organization. WALK is for first-year emerging campus leaders who have received the Leadership Award scholarship. The primary focus of this program is to provide students with opportunities to learn and grow as a leader for their campus and community. Scott is also a member of the American Red Cross Club and the Pre-Dental Club.

In the future, Scott wants to be involved in the Active Minds organization, a student leadership organization that works to raise mental health awareness. It also raises funds for mental health education and resources.

Scott is scheduled to graduate in 2028, and she intends to pursue a career in dental hygiene in Northeast Nebraska.
