Ten Wayne State students are vying to be crowned WSC’s Homecoming Royalty on Monday, Sept. 30.
Wayne State College is excited to announce its candidates for 2024 Homecoming Royalty. The winners will be crowned during the coronation ceremony at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, in Ramsey Theatre, located in the Peterson Fine Arts Building. The public is invited to attend.
2024 Homecoming Royalty Candidates
Autumn Bender of Humphrey, Neb.
Bender is a senior majoring in Drafting and Design and Construction Management. Bender is active in SkillsUSA, Associated General Contractors, Drafting and Design Club, Student Senate, Alpha Lambda Delta, Epsilon Pi Tau, Theta Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Pi, and the Philomatheans honor society. Bender is also a Susan Buffett Scholar.
Maya Couch of David City, Neb.
A senior majoring in Accounting, Couch is active in the Cooperative Education Career Scholars Program and the Philomatheans honor society. She is a former member of the Wildcat track team, as well as a former tutor, tour guide, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes member.
Braxton Dalton of Raymond, Neb.
A junior majoring in Business Marketing, Dalton serves as Wayne State’s Student Trustee for the Nebraska State College System. He is active in the Cooperative Education Career Scholars Program, the Wayne State Student Senate, Future Business Leaders of America, and Delta Sigma Pi (Eta Phi Chapter). He also serves as a Resident Assistant in a residence hall.
Reagan Fries of Grand Island, Neb.
Fries is a third-year student majoring in Biology and Applied Human and Sport Physiology. Fries serves as captain of the Wayne State Cheerleading Team and president of Theta Phi Alpha. She is also involved in Greek Council, Pre-Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Club.
Coen Herrig of Wall Lake, Iowa
Herrig is a senior majoring in Accounting and Management. Herrig is active in Student Senate and Delta Sigma Pi.
Sadie Holmes of Minden, Neb.
A fourth-year senior, Holmes is majoring in Writing and Literature. Holmes is active in Wayne State theater, the Literature Club, the FAN Club, Poetry and Fiction Slams, and promoting the Judas Goat.
Bre Matzen of Blair, Neb.
Matzen is a junior majoring in PK-12 Vocal and Instrumental Music Education and Music Performance. Matzen serves as president of Honors Club, vice president of National Association for Music Education, and as a drum major for the Wildcat Marching Band. Matzen is also active in the Wayne State Concert and Chamber Choir, the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. Matzen is a Peer Mentor, a music tutor, a Nebraska virtual SMART tutor, a Wayne State Music Academy voice teacher, and a Neihardt Scholar.
Griffin Ryan of Wahoo, Neb.
A senior majoring in Political Science and Business Administration, Ryan is active in the Rural Law Opportunities Program, the Delta Sigma Pi professional business organization, the Sigma Beta Delta honor society for business administration and management, Future Business Leaders of America, Pi Gamma Mu (social sciences honor society), the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society for first-year academic success, the Philomatheans honor society, the Pi Sigma Alpha national political science honor society, and the Political Science Club.
Emma Wilkinson of Battle Creek, Neb.
Wilkinson is a senior majoring in Criminal Justice and English Literature. Wilkinson is active in Student Senate, as a Wayne State Navigator, the Wild For Life organization, the Wildcat Catholic, Fellowship of Catholic University Students, the Chess Club, the Rural Law Opportunities Program, the Philomatheans honor society, and Pi Gamma Mu.
Emily Woockman of Wausa, Neb.
A junior majoring in Agribusiness and Economics, Woockman serves as president of Delta Sigma Pi and as co-head of the Student Senate’s Club and Organization Committee. She is also a Cooperative Education Career Scholar.
