A collaborative concert with WSC singers and the high school All-State Choir.

Wayne State College will present an All-State Collaborative Concert featuring all four Wayne State College choirs and area high school students preparing to audition for the Nebraska All-State Chorus.

The concert gives high school vocalists the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside Wayne State College singers while gaining experience with advanced choral repertoire. The collaborative event also connects high school and collegiate music students and celebrates the strong tradition of choral music education throughout the region.

The ensembles will perform under the direction of Dr. Matthew Armstrong, professor of music, with Shelly Armstrong, staff accompanist.

The program will include selections from the 2026 Nebraska All-State Chorus repertoire, giving participating students an opportunity to rehearse music they as they prepare for All-State auditions.

The 2026 Nebraska All-State Chorus repertoire includes:

  • All Night I Could Not Sleep — Laurel Luke Christensen
  • An Earth Song — Marques L. A. Garrett
  • Ong-Hye-Ya — Hye-Young Cho
  • Deep River — R. Nathaniel Dett
  • Saturn’s Embrace — David von Kampen
  • Never Let Go — Rob Dietz

In conjunction with the concert, interested high school students will also have the opportunity to explore music study at Wayne State College through the Music Major for a Day program. Prospective students can experience the music major firsthand, meet music faculty and current students, participate in music activities and learn about the academic and performance opportunities available through the Wayne State College Department of Music.

The All-State Collaborative Concert provides an opportunity for aspiring musicians to experience collegiate-level choral music while building connections with Wayne State College and exploring possibilities for continuing their musical education after high school.
