Join Wayne State College for the annual We Climb Because They Climbed challenge, a remembrance event honoring the first responders of Sept. 11, 2001.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the WSC Memorial Football Stadium with a reflection on the events of 9/11. Those who are able are invited to participate in a silent climb of the stadium steps in recognition of the first responders who climbed the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

Wayne-area first responders will also attend, providing an opportunity for participants to thank them for their continued service to the community. A thank-you card will be available to sign, and a free-will donation will be collected for local first responders.

Free pizza and water will be provided for participants.

Never forget.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Barbara Engebretsen at [email protected] or 402-640-3288.

Sponsored by the Exercise is Medicine Club and the Rotaract Club.
