About the Skilled and Technical Sciences Education degree

Wayne State College’s Skilled and Technical Sciences Education degree prepares students to become industrial arts and industrial technology teachers for grades 6–12. Sometimes called an industrial arts teaching degree or technology education degree, the program prepares future educators to teach skilled and technical subjects while developing both technical expertise and classroom teaching skills.

Students receive hands-on experience in areas such as robotics, computer-aided design, manufacturing, construction, CNC machining, welding, and other industrial technologies. The program also includes professional education coursework, field experiences, and clinical practice to prepare students for teaching in middle and high school classrooms.

Graduates may pursue careers as industrial arts teachers, industrial technology teachers, technology education teachers, and skilled and technical sciences teachers. Wayne State’s program prepares students for certification to teach skilled and technical sciences in grades 6–12 in Nebraska.
