Corey Estelle, DMA
Assistant Professor
Dr. Corey Estelle, a tenor, is a native of Houston, Texas. He began his music career at Houston Baptist University in 2014. Shortly before graduation, Estelle joined Houston’s Bach Society as both a soloist and ensemble member. He has collaborated with other Houston early music groups including the Mercury Chamber Orchestra and Ars Lyrica. Estelle also taught at Hodges Bend Middle School in Fort Bend Independent School District, serving as an assistant choir director from 2016 to 2019. Under his direction, the male choruses received several high ratings in Texas scholastic-regulated choir contests.
Estelle gained valuable experience in the classroom and improved his teaching skills. This experience influenced his decision to attend graduate school. He served as a Teaching Assistant while he pursued a master's degree and DMA in Vocal Performance at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music from 2019 to 2025. He gained valuable experience as a singer in several of USC’s opera productions. He even had the opportunity to study vocology and vocal pedagogy with Lynn Helding, which improved his voice teaching skills even more. While in Los Angeles, Estelle performed with The Opera Buffs Inc., Los Angeles Opera, and Long Beach Opera. Before leaving Los Angeles, Estelle was given the opportunity to be a part of Long Beach Opera's professional recording of Anthony Davis' The Central Park Five at Silent Zoo Studios under the direction of Anthony Parnther.
After completing his academic studies, Estelle moved to Sacramento, Calif., where he served as a voice teacher at Music Lab Rancho Cordova, Music Lab El Dorado Hills, and San Joaquin Delta College from 2025 to 2026. Currently, Estelle lives in Wayne where he is an assistant professor of voice at Wayne State College.
