About the Middle Level Education degree program
Wayne State College’s Middle Level Education program prepares future educators to teach students in grades 5–9 during a critical stage of academic and social development. The program combines strong content-area preparation with coursework focused on adolescent learning, instructional strategies, and classroom management tailored to middle-level learners.
Students complete early and ongoing field experiences in area schools, culminating in a full-semester student teaching placement. Graduates leave the program well prepared to meet Nebraska teacher certification requirements and to lead engaging, effective classrooms.
