Dr. Brett Cagg is a chemistry professor at Wayne State College. Cagg has a strong background in computational modeling of chemical reactions and has taught courses in general, physical, organic, inorganic, and analytical chemistry. Prior to coming to WSC, Cagg was an assistant professor for five years at Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky., and spent two years as an instructor at Auburn University. In the classroom, Cagg stresses the importance of group work in the sciences and is a proponent of active learning.
Cagg is a computational chemist interested in modeling molecules and chemical reactions that are traditionally difficult to represent using popular electronic structure methods. He enjoys using computational models to aid in explaining difficult concepts within organic and inorganic chemistry. His teaching responsibilities are mainly in general chemistry, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and applications of quantum mechanics.
