Nicholas Kleve is an adjunct faculty member in the Educational Foundations and Leadership Department at Wayne State College, teaching methods for social studies, language arts, and early reading. Nicknamed "Mr. Funky Teacher," Kleve is also a fifth grade teacher with South Sioux City Schools in South Sioux City, Neb. He is a passionate, dedicated, and dynamic educator focused on inspiring young people to be smart and honorable human beings by working directly with them and empowering parents and other teachers to do the same.
During his more than 16 years of teaching experience, Kleve has a list of accomplishments and honors, including the most recent being named an Empathy Fellowship Challenge 2.0 National Fellow for 2018-19 (one of 23 new teachers chosen nationwide for this teaching-empathy challenge) and the 2015 Nebraska State History Teacher of the Year (in addition to several other teacher recognitions).
He also serves as a Student Leadership Council advisor and coaches youth soccer, basketball, and baseball.
