Nebraska City, Neb., native Matt Schneider competed in cross country and track and field at Wayne State in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009. Schneider was a seven-time NSIC conference champion indoors (four individual events and three relays) and three-time NSIC outdoor champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, helping WSC win five NSIC team conference championships (2005 cross country, 2006 indoor and outdoor track, and 2007 indoor and outdoor track). Schneider was a two-time NCAA national qualifier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and was NCAA All-American as a senior placing seventh at 9:05.82. Schneider earned an Exercise Science degree from WSC in 2010 and is a family nurse practitioner at Midtown Health Center in Norfolk, Neb., and Madison, Neb. He resides in West Point with his wife Meghan (a WSC graduate) and two children – Joanna (2) and Levi (8 months). Schneider was inducted into the Wayne State Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 5, 2019.
