Bio

Ashley Arlen played three seasons at Wayne State (2009-2012) and turned the Wildcat women’s basketball program into a Central Region and national contender. In her three years at WSC, she had a 84-12 record, with 59-7 in the NSIC, and never lost a home game in Rice Auditorium (46-0), while leading WSC to three NCAA Tournament appearances, one Central Region title, two NSIC regular season, and two NSIC tournament championships. As a senior, Arlen was named the Women’s Division II Bulletin National Player of the Year after leading the NSIC in scoring at 18.1 points per game and 9.4 rebounds (second in NSIC) per contest. She shot 48 percent (sixth in NSIC) from the field and 79.8 percent (10th in NSIC) at the free throw line, leading WSC to its first-ever No. 1 national ranking, a 32-3 record and first-ever trip to the NCAA Elite Eight. In 2010-11 as a junior, she became Wayne State’s first-ever All-American after leading WSC in scoring (16.4) and rebounding (8.6). She was named NSIC Player of the Year, WBCA First Team All-American, and Daktronics Second Team All-American, leading WSC to a 26-4 record and 21-1 NSIC mark, the best record ever by a women’s basketball team in league play. As a sophomore, Arlen averaged 19.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, leading WSC to NSIC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearances. In her three-year career, Arlen scored 1,724 points (third all-time) and grabbed 821 rebounds (sixth all-time). She was a three-time All-NSIC selection, two-time NSIC Player of the Year, and three-time All-Central Region selection. She was twice named Region Player of the Year and twice All-American, which included National Player of the Year as a senior. Now Ashley Harris, she recently completed her fifth season playing professional basketball in Europe. Arlen has played the last two years with Nottingham Wildcats of the Women’s British Basketball League. This season, she was named WBBL Most Valuable Player after leading the league in scoring (25.3 ppg) to go with 11.3 rebounds per contest, shooting 63 percent from the field while helping her team win the regular season title (14-4) while advancing to the league tournament championship game. Arlen has also played overseas in Romania, Spain, and Germany.  Arlen was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 7, 2017.
