Rowan Wiltse attended Wayne State from 1951 to 1953 and took additional classes here over the years. From Wayne, Wiltse went on to Nebraska Wesleyan and graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago. Wiltse has been a resident of Wayne since his graduation and has served the community and the college in many capacities. Wiltse is a past president of the WSC Second Guessers organization and a member of the Jaycees. As a long-standing member of the Jaycees, Wiltse was honored in 1959 as the Jaycee of the year for his community service. Wiltse has been very involved with the local Boy Scout organization, serving as the Scoutmaster for Troup #175 from 1967-73. He is the past county chairman of the March of Dimes and is a past member of the state March of Dimes Advisory Board. Wiltse received the Second Guessers president's outstanding projects award in 1975 and 1976 for his work on the Wildcat Room; most of the carpentry work he did himself. Wiltse has devoted more than his share of spare time to the support of Wayne State athletics, both directly and through the Second Guessers organization. Wiltse was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 11, 1980.
