Stan Lewis attended Wayne State College from 1971 to 1976. He played football for the Wildcats from 1971 to 1974 at the defensive end position. In 1974 he earned distinction by being voted to the NAIA All-District team at that position. In his senior year, Lewis was credited with 30 tackles and 24 assists, plus 13 quarterback sacks, six forced fumbles, and five passes batted down. Lewis earned his degree from Wayne State in 1976 in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. Lewis was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and played defensive end for them for one season. As the expansion teams were organized, he was picked up by the Seattle Seahawks. From the Seahawks, Lewis migrated to the Canadian Football League for several seasons. Lewis was injured while in that league and has since dropped out of professional football. At the time of his induction, he was residing in the Chicago area and was involved in youth-oriented activities. Lewis was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 11, 1980.
