Rod Tietsort attended Wayne State from 1957 to 1961 and played football all four years. During the 1958 season, he caught nine passes for 130 yards and kept improving. In 1959, he caught 18 passes for 246 yards, and in 1960 led the Wildcats in receiving. Tietsort was named football MVP by his teammates in 1958, 1959, and 1960, and was an Associated Press "Little All-American" honorable mention in 1960. Tietsort also played baseball for Wayne State in 1959 and 1960. Since leaving Wayne State, Tietsort has attended the University of Northern Colorado and Colorado University for post-graduate study. At the time of his induction, Tietsort was teaching and coaching at the high school level at Jefferson County Public Schools in the Denver metro area. Tietsort was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 11, 1980.
