Mick Anderson

Mick Anderson was a member of Dave Gunther's Wildcat basketball teams which posted a 71-12 record and appeared in three national tournaments from 1967 to 1970. Anderson graduated from WSC in 1970 and earned three letters in basketball. Anderson went on to become the most successful high school basketball coach in Nebraska history at Wahoo High School, compiling a 342-143 win/loss record, including 117-3 during his last seven years. His teams won a state record 114 games in a row from 1988 to 1992 and won four consecutive state championships in Class B from 1988 to 1991. His teams at Wahoo, Neb., also qualified for eight straight state tournaments from 1987 to 1994. He was the first Nebraska coach for the Las Vegas All-Star game in 1981 as selected by the Nebraska Basketball Development Association. He has received numerous Coach of the Year awards from various groups and organizations, including the 1990 Omaha World-Herald Coach of the Year, the 1991 Lincoln Journal Star Coach of the Year, and the 1990 and 1994 Nebraska Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Anderson, a native of Oakland, Neb., was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall of 1991.
