Megan Hurley-Clayberg

Megan (Hurley) Clayberg was a four-year letter winner in volleyball (1985-88) and a letterwinner in basketball (1985-86) at Wayne State. She led the Central States Intercollegiate Conference in blocks during her sophomore season with 212 total blocks, a new school record at the time. In 1987, Hurley-Clayberg was named to the CSIC honorable mention team and helped the Wildcats win a school-record 32 match victories in 1988 during her senior season. Hurley-Clayberg currently ranks among the all-time leaders in block assists (383), solo blocks (241) and total blocks (624). The 1985 graduate of Omaha Westside also lettered for the Wildcat basketball team during the 1985-86 team. At the time of her induction in 2002, Hurley-Clayberg and her husband Brett live in Pella, Iowa, where they have four children, three sons and one daughter. Hurley-Clayberg is an instructor of exercise science and the senior woman administrator at Central College. She served as head volleyball coach at Central College for 12 years and compiled one of the winningest records in NCAA Division III history, a 370-107 mark for a winning percentage of .775. Hurley-Clayberg guided Central College to the NCAA Division III Championships in 1998, 1999 and 2000 and a third place finish at the 1997 National Tournament. She was named the NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year in 1998. Hurley-Clayberg was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 5, 2002.
