Larry Michelson was a two-time NAIA All-American in wrestling at Wayne State College from 1965 to 1969. Michelson won the national title in 1968 and finished second in 1969. His career match record was 40-9 in four years. At the time of his induction, Michelson was an inventory control supervisor for Ag-Chem Equipment and a partner in a family farming operation. Michelson was inducted into the Wayne State Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall of 1986.
