Kent Stephenson was a football coach at Wayne State from 1965 to 1968 and later went on to coach in the National Football League. Stephenson, a native of Anita, Iowa, served as a graduate assistant coach at Wayne State College from 1965 to 1968 and earned his master's degree in 1966. He was a three-year letter winner as a guard and nose tackle with the Northern Iowa football program, where he graduated in 1964. Stephenson's collegiate coaching career included stints at North Dakota, Southern Methodist, Iowa, Oklahoma State, and Kansas. Professionally, he has coached with the Michigan Panthers of the United States Football League, along with the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. Stephenson was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame in the spring of 1997.
