Gene and Jan Casey

Gene and Jan Casey of Wayne are known for their work as scoreboard operators at Wayne State home basketball games. Both are avid basketball fans and are well-known with basketball officials for their quality work done at the scoring table. At induction time, Gene had volunteered his time to run the main clock at Wildcat home basketball games for the past 27 years. Jan had been running the player/foul scoreboard at Wildcat home basketball games since the new scoreboard was added. Gene worked in the maintenance department at Wayne State College while Jan was employed at Great Dane Trailers in Wayne. They also run Gene and Jan's Lawn Service during the spring and summer months in Wayne. When Gene is not running the clock for WSC home basketball games, he can be found operating the clock at Wayne High School basketball events. Gene and Jan Casey were inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame's Hall of Contributions on Oct. 1, 2005.
