Dean DeBuhr, a 1962 graduate of Charles City Community School in Iowa, attended Wayne State from 1962 to 1967 and was a standout three-sport athlete. As quarterback for the Wildcat football team from 1962 to 1965, DeBuhr played in 34 games during his career and threw for 2,075 yards. In basketball, DeBuhr was the leading scorer for three of the four seasons he played and left his mark on the record books. DeBuhr still ranks second in most points per game (46), fourth in most points per season (615), fifth in most career points (1492), second in season scoring average (25.6), and first in career scoring average (19.4). DeBuhr was also a top-notch pitcher, though his statistics are not available. After graduation, he was with the Chicago White Sox for three years before going to work for Rubbermaid Commercial Products. At the time of induction, he was a national sales manager for them. DeBuhr was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 6, 1979.
