What is the At-Promise Program?
The At-Promise Program helps you succeed in college by connecting you to a strong, supportive community from day one.
Designed to ease the transition to WSC, the program provides intentional support during the first year and continues offering structured guidance through graduation. Each year, the program selects a cohort of 50 students who progress through the program together while building meaningful connections with peers, mentors, and staff committed to their success.

How we support your success:
As a participant, you will receive:
- Individual academic and career advising
- Dedicated peer mentoring
- A structured Summer Bridge experience
- Enrollment in the First-Year Experience course
- Access to tutoring and academic resources
- Professional development workshops
- Internship guidance and career planning
- Community building and cultural events
Participant expectations
Students selected for program are expected to:
- Maintain full-time enrollment
- Enroll in the First-Year Experience (FYE) course
- Participate in mentoring, workshops, and events
- Meet regularly with program staff and peer mentors
- Attend the Summer Bridge experience
- Maintain good academic standing
Program experience
From your first days on campus through graduation, At-Promise provides structured support that evolves with you.
Year 1: Transition to College
- One-week Summer Bridge experience before fall classes begin
- Enrollment in the First-Year Experience course
- Dedicated peer mentor support
- Regular one-on-one success coaching
- Community-building and cultural experiences
Years 2-4: Growth and Leadership
- Continued academic and personal success coaching
- Expanded leadership and campus engagement opportunities
- Internship, career, and professional development preparation
- Graduation and post-graduation planning support

Who should apply
The At-Promise Program is designed for first-time, full-time undergraduate students enrolling at Wayne State College who meet one or more of the following:
- First-generation college student (neither parent graduated from a 4-year college)
- Demonstrated financial need (Pell Grant eligible)
- Students from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education
How to apply
Students interested in the At-Promise Program must first be admitted to Wayne State College and then complete the At-Promise application.

- Apply and be accepted to Wayne State College
- Complete the At-Promise Application
- Receive your decision
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, but completed applications received by July 1 will receive priority consideration.
The At-Promise Program is limited to 50 students per cohort.
