About the Pre-Med Program

The field of medicine is a noble area of study – and very broad. Choose a career in medicine, and you’re in for a lifetime of service to a broad population – a challenging yet rewarding occupation. Quality medical attention is essential to everyone at some point, whether it be due to injury, surgery, pregnancy, therapy, or sickness. You could be the one to provide care or even save someone’s life one day. To begin your journey toward a medical degree, you’ll start with a bachelor’s degree here at Wayne State College. Our Pre-Med program provides the coursework, advising, and guidance needed to submit an application to the medical school of your choice. Pre-medicine at Wayne State is not an academic major, but instead a pathway to help you reach your goal of getting into medical school. The recommend undergraduate studies for Pre-Medicine include Biology, Health Sciences, or our top-ranked Chemistry program. After that, you’ll be ready to apply for medical school, such as the University of Nebraska Medical Center or Creighton.

Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP)

The Pre-Medicine program is eligible for RHOP. The only program of its kind in the state of Nebraska, RHOP educates students from rural Nebraska who will return to practice in rural areas of the state. If selected for RHOP, you’ll receive free tuition at Wayne State College and guaranteed admission into the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
