The study of the Earth covers a wide array of interesting scientific topics. In the Earth Science minor, you’ll explore the cause and effect of our planet’s changing climate through the study of meteorology and geology. You’ll journey inside the Earth to study how and why the surface of our planet evolves. By studying Earth science, you’ll develop a better understanding of the challenges regarding the climate, availability of natural resources and energy, and environmental sustainability. Climate change, Earth materials, and weather systems are not the only areas that can be explored. Subjects such as hydrology and astronomy also offer opportunities to investigate rapidly advancing fields. Job opportunities are diverse and may include education, research, engineering, and environmental consulting. You can also move on to advanced studies in geoscience, climatology, and atmospheric science.
