Classes for the Online English Education Master's Program
Classes for the english education master's degree program are available online. Upon application to the program, candidates for the MSE in English are required to submit a writing sample (an academic essay of five or more pages) to the English Department Graduate Committee, as well as a letter of application specifying your preparation and goals. You must also be interviewed by the English Department Graduate Committee. This is a 36-hour online program that results in a master of science in education (MSE) in curriculum and instruction-instructional leadership with an emphasis in English education. The following is a typical program of study for this degree:
Professional education core: 12 hours
- EDU 603 Introduction to Educational Research and Design (3)
- EDU 652 Instructional Theory and Practice (3)
- EDU 658 Fundamentals of Curriculum Dev. PK-16 (3)
- EDU 674 History/Philosophy of Education (3)
English concentration: 24 hours
We encourage students to use your graduate program of study to gain a broad-based education. Beyond the required hours in education, you will select from a rotation of seminars in English literature, creative writing, criticism, linguistics, and related topics.
Electives: 0-3 hours
Classes level 600 or above.
