Note: This admission criteria is only for those applying to the MSE Curriculum and Instruction program.
Step 1: Apply to Graduate Study at WSC
Requirements for admission:
- Possess a valid teaching certificate
- A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- GPA of 2.75 or above in the undergraduate degree - OR - graduate transfer credits with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Step 2: Submit Official Transcripts
Request official transcript(s) for all college coursework be sent directly to:

Your official transcript(s) must be original copies with the official seal of the institution and the degree statement. Transcripts must be sent directly to Wayne State College. Transcripts that are not received directly from the institution will not be accepted (they cannot pass through student hands). If you received your undergraduate degree from Wayne State, you do not have to request transcripts.
Step 3: Submit Reference Forms/Letters
Three reference forms need to be submitted on your behalf. Please ask three people who have observed and can comment on your effectiveness in professional work and who have agreed to complete the reference form. Eligible references are school administrators, and current or previous employers.
Step 4: Send Statement of Purpose
A letter addressed to the Dean of the School of Education and Counseling requesting admittance into your desired program. The letter must contain the following information:
- Reason and purpose for entering the program
- Professional experience and preparation
- Expectations for the program
- Future aspirations or goals
- Future endeavors once degree is earned

Upon completion of these requirements, you will receive a letter informing you of the acceptance decision.
