“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” It’s a common expression. Artist-musician Jay Kreimer of Lincoln, NE literally lives this adage, creating innovative musical instruments from discarded objects. Where others see scraps, Kreimer sees visual and audible possibilities. An exhibition of Kreimer’s works, Listening to Materials, opens Thursday, Aug. 23 in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery at Wayne State College. An artist’s talk is scheduled from 3:45-4:15 p.m. in Gardner Auditorium with an opening reception in the gallery from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The events are free and open to the public. The show runs through Sept. 22.
Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
