“The Last Call,” featuring artwork by four Wayne State College seniors, opens Wednesday, Nov. 20. The exhibit is free and open to the public through mid-January 2025.

Exhibiting artists include art education majors Dylan Dendinger of Hartington, Neb., Stacey Frisch of Madison, Neb., Jay Rodriguez-Manriquez of Nebraska City, Neb., and Victoria Schwab of Blue Hill, Neb. Works involve painting, digital painting, print, sculpture, drawing, photography, ceramics, and mixed media. The exhibit examines the impact life experiences have on the present and the potential to educate the future.

Artists drew inspiration from their collective knowledge and experiences. Dendinger’s work reflects personal history through symbols and characters representing cherished memories. Frisch’s work centers on memories, nostalgia, beliefs, and family. Rodriguez-Manriquez’s artwork marries real-life events, such as coming of age and gender identity, with stylized anecdotes and themes. Schwab emphasizes the importance of valuing each moment to appreciate the often-overlooked details in life.

The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. It is closed Saturday. Shows end at noon on closing day.
