Artwork from four Wayne State seniors will be featured in this exhibit.

“Box of Trinkets,” featuring artwork by four Wayne State College seniors, opens Wednesday, Nov. 29, with a 4:30 p.m. reception in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery, located on the main level of U.S. Conn Library. The exhibit is free and open to the public through mid-January 2024.

Exhibiting artists include students majoring in Art Education: Betsy Eckstrom of Palmer, Neb.; Hallie Jensen of Seward, Neb.; and Lakia Eilts of Le Mars, Iowa; as well as Adam Boggs of Tilden, Neb., a student majoring in Studio Arts.

The student artwork celebrates charming, playful, and retrospective works. Students use printmaking, multimedia, painting, sculpture, and ceramics to detail unique perspectives.

Eckstrom elevates elements of nature through color and texture. Boggs depicts wielding confidence in conflict despite improbable odds. Capturing human characteristics in geometric form dominates Jensen’s art, while Eilts shares personal memories with retrospective works. United, the art connects into the “Box of Trinkets.”

The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. It is closed Saturday. Shows end at noon on closing day.
