“What Lies Beneath,” featuring artwork by four Wayne State College students, opens Friday, March 31, with a 4:30 p.m. reception in Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery in Conn Library. Artwork examines physical and conceptual depth. The exhibit is free and open to the public through April 19.
Exhibiting artists include studio arts majors Skylar Cooper of Taos, N.M., and Zoe Nielsen of Firth, Neb., and art education majors Courtney Dahlberg of Thedford, Neb., and Stacy Long of Pender, Neb. Artwork employs a diverse range of mixed media sculpture and two-dimensional pieces. The works provoke emotion by exploring mortality, loss, femininity, drama, and beauty in everyday life.
The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. It is closed Saturday. Shows end at noon on closing day.
