The WSC Counseling Center has been reaccredited through June 2016.
The International Association of Counseling Services, Inc (IACS), an Alexandria, Va. based organization of United States, Canadian and Australian counseling agencies renewed accreditation for the Wayne State College Counseling Center through June 30, 2016. The Wayne State College Counseling Center was evaluated by IACS for high standards of counseling practice and was found to offer competent and reliable professional services to its clientele. Approval by IACS is also dependent upon evidence of continuing professional development as well as demonstration of excellence of counseling performance. The Wayne State College Counseling Center has met requirements for this accreditation since 1999.
The Wayne State College Counseling Center is directed by Lin Brummels and offers personal, academic, disability, nutrition and career counseling. A number of related services are also available including substance abuse education and evaluation, violence prevention and group support for some campus organizations. It is a college counseling center that serves Wayne State College students and is one of only two college or university counseling centers in Nebraska accredited by IACS.
IACS was established in 1972 to encourage and aid counseling agencies to meet high professional standards through peer evaluation and to inform the public about counseling services that are competent and reliable.
