Sigma Beta Delta Inducts 10 New Members in 2024

The scholastic business honor society inducted six students, three faculty and staff members, and one community member April 9.

Wayne State College’s chapter of Sigma Beta Delta, the scholastic business honor society, inducted six students, three faculty and staff members, and an honorary community member during the honor society’s induction ceremony April 9.

Students inducted, and their majors, were:

  • Sao Paulo, Brazil – Diego Marinho de Andrade, Business Administration/Economics
  • Noordheuwel Krugersdorp, South Africa – Ricardo Pretorius, Business Administration/Management and Computer Information Systems/Program Analyst
  • Grand Island – Alex Brandt, Business Administration/Finance and Math/Pure Mathematics
  • Howells – Jillian Grovijohn, Business Administration/Management and Marketing
  • Morse Bluff – Katelyn Bayer, Business Administration/Management
  • Wahoo – Griffin Ryan, Business Administration/Economics and Political Science

Faculty and staff members inducted were Dr. Michelle Laughlin, assistant professor of business; Pedro Galvao, assistant to the dean of the School of Business and Technology; and Logan Hardy, project coordinator for the School of Business and Technology.

Clarkson native Loren Kucera, who has served as director of the Nebraska Business Development Center at Wayne State for more than 30 years, was the honorary community member inducted. Kucera is retiring later this year.

The mission of Sigma Beta Delta is to encourage and recognize scholarship and accomplishment among students of business, management, and administration, and to encourage and promote aspirations toward personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind. Sigma Beta Delta was established to honor students who have attained superior records in business programs in schools and colleges with regional accreditation.

To be eligible for induction into Sigma Beta Delta, students must rank in the top 20% of their class for bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Undergraduate students may be inducted as early as their junior year.
