Wayne State College HSIRB abides by the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 45: Public Welfare, developed under the Department of Health and Human Services division of the National Institutes of Health, Office for the Protection From Research Risks, Part 46: Protection of Human Subjects (July 19, 2018). This policy was developed as a guide to ethical research involving human subjects. The goal is to protect vulnerable individuals from unnecessary harm while maximizing the potential benefits resulting from research. It is the responsibility of all researchers to be knowledgeable of and follow Federal Guidelines for ethical research involving human subjects. Failure to do so not only compromises the integrity of the entire WSC community but may jeopardize federal funding for WSC.
WSC HSIRB has been approved by the Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP) in Washington D.C. to approve federally funded human subjects research through Wayne State College. Our official IRB Number is IRB00012715 Wayne State College IRB #1. In addition, the WSC HSIRB has received a federal-wide assurance (FWA) number, FWA00029970, that informs federal agencies that the board is an approved IRB for federally funded research projects and grants.
