The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s fundraiser earned about $1,200 for the Wayne Food Pantry & School Backpack Program.
Approximately $1,200 was raised during Wayne State College’s annual “Pie in the Face” fundraiser sponsored by Wayne State’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Feb. 3. All proceeds benefit the Wayne Food Pantry & School Backpack Program.
Tyler Vaughn, an assistant baseball coach at Wayne State, received the most money in donations and was the recipient of the ceremonial pie in the face. Dakota Coon, head coach of strength and conditioning, received the second highest amount in donations.
Other Wayne State administrators and coaches who received donations were CD Douglas, vice president for student affairs; Dr. Gerard Ras, dean of business and technology; Noah Roberts, assistant softball coach; Blaine Meyer, instructor of sport management; and Dakota Coon, head coach of strength and conditioning.
SAAC is sponsored by the NCAA. SAAC was created as a vehicle for student-athletes to communicate with the Athletic Department, providing feedback on department policies and procedures, while also providing the Athletic Department a means to distribute information to student-athletes.
