Several Wayne State College students were recognized for their excellence in music during the college’s Fall 2023 Honors Recital on Dec. 7.
The concert featured select students recognized for outstanding progress in voice or instrument. At the end of each semester, Wayne State’s Department of Music celebrates excellence in music with an Honors Recital.
Honorees included Tresten Schwarz, marimba, Gothenburg; Christopher Woerdemann, piano, Wayne; Grant Ferrell, horn, Lincoln; Josie Brezenski, bass clarinet, Scottsbluff; Emmett White, baritone, Neola, Iowa; Isaac Voboril, tenor, Pleasant Dale; Dusty Butler, trumpet, Alda; and Chase Van Briesen, euphonium, Bellevue. Piano accompaniment was provided by Shelly Armstrong, staff accompanist at Wayne State.
The Honors Recital recognizes students demonstrating the highest performance level in selected voice or instrument. Faculty members nominate diligent students who have made significant progress based on private study lessons.
