A Touch of Brass presents its 2022 Concert Series, The Many Shades of Brass, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, in Ley Theatre at Wayne State College. The concert is free and open to the public and will also be livestreamed. To view the livestream, go to www.wsc.edu/watch-live. The program is accessible by selecting the event from the Music Events list at www.wsc.edu/music.

Musical selections infuse German renaissance and seventeenth century baroque with contemporary and American. For example, “Suite from West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein blends opera, jazz, and Latin America dance music. The swing favorite, “If I Only Had a Brain” by Harold Arlen, combines fun with charming.

The challenging, powerful, and sometimes playful music highlights each musician’s skillset. A Touch of Brass includes David Bohnert, trumpet; Kevin McLouth, trumpet; Gary Reeves, horn; Randy Neuharth, trombone; and Josh Calkin, tuba. The group has entertained audiences in Northeast Nebraska and the surrounding area for more than 30 years.
