Wayne State will gather new freshmen and their families along with Wayne State faculty and staff for Convocation at noon Aug. 17. The event will mark the beginning of the college’s Week of Welcome and celebrate the college’s commitment to academic excellence as Wayne State starts a new academic year.
Convocation will be held in the college’s Willow Bowl (or Rice Auditorium in the case of inclement weather) with a free meal after the ceremony. Wayne State President Marysz Rames; Vice President for Academic Affairs Steven Elliott; Dr. David Bohnert, professor of music; Cody Wageman, student senate president; and Tamara Nash ‘06 will each provide a brief welcome speech to usher in the start of the first year for new Wildcats.
