Alumni Notes: John Novotny, MBA '00

Novotny holds a bachelor's degree from UNL and an MBA from Wayne State.

John NovotnyJohn Novotny (MBA ’00) is currently the business manager for the Columbus Otolaryngology Clinic in Columbus, managing overall financial, IT, business operations, compliance, personnel, and facility maintenance functions. He also offers medical and professional consulting services through John A. Novotny Consulting in the areas of accounting, computers, personnel, and fraud investigation.

Novotny acquired his bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and business administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1977. Novotny is a member of the Association of Otolaryngology Administrators and the Nebraska Medical Group Managers Association. He also has experience in bank management, commercial lending, investment tracking, and insurance, and is a former member of the Nebraska and Minnesota Bankers Association.

In service to his community, Novotny is a newly appointed member of the Central Community College Board of Governors. He is also an officer for the Northbrook Townhome Association, a member of the Nebraska Supreme Court Committee on Inquiry, and a member of the Columbus Medical Mission Team for worldwide missions. Novotny is also active as a member of the Federated Church of Columbus and a Red Cross Volunteer.

Novotny enjoys international travel and serving with worldwide medical missions. He and his wife, Nila Novotny, M.D., live in Columbus. Nila is a physician at the Columbus Otolaryngology Clinic. They have three children – Ashley, Tyson, and Giana.
