Ken Monroe

Inducted: 1979

Monroe was an Illinois all-state football player from East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, Ill. At WSC, Monroe compiled a wrestling record of 92 wins, 9 losses and 2 draws in the 167 lb. class from 1969-1974. During his college career he was an NAIA national champion in his weight class three of four years, and was runner-up his sophomore year to the same man he defeated his junior year for the title. He was inducted into the NAIA Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1978.While at WSC, Monroe gathered other awards such as: Omaha World-Herald 1973 Nebraska College Athlete of the Year, the Nebraska College Conference championship three times, NAIA District 11 title twice and won the WSC Athlete of the Year award twice. Monroe also competed in football at WSC and, at the time of his induction, was a police officer in Norfolk, Neb. Monroe was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame February 3, 1979.
