Matt Schneider

Inducted: 2019

Nebraska City native Matt Schneider competed in cross country and track and field at Wayne State in 2005, ’06, ’07 and ’09. Schneider was a seven-time NSIC conference champion indoors (four individual – three relays) and three-time NSIC outdoor champion in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, helping WSC win five NSIC team conference championships (2005 cross country, 2006 indoor and outdoor track and 2007 indoor and outdoor track). Schneider was a two-time NCAA national qualifier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and was NCAA All-American as a senior placing seventh at 9:05.82. Schneider earned an exercise science degree from WSC in 2010 and is a family nurse practitioner at Midtown Health Center in Norfolk and Madison. He resides in West Point with his wife Meghan (a WSC graduate) and two children – Joanna (2) and Levi (8 months). Matt Schneider was inducted into the Wayne State Athletic Hall of Fame on October 5, 2019.
