Guy Best

Inducted: 1979

The late Guy Best attended Norfolk Senior High School before coming to WSC. He was a basketball standout at WSC from 1923-26, and continued his involvement in sports after graduating in 1927. He was a football and basketball referee for many years, refereeing throughout Northeast Nebraska and at Nebraska State tournaments for eight consecutive years. He also refereed college games and exhibition games of the Harlem Globetrotters. Best worked for the Y.M.C.A. immediately upon graduation from WSC. After a stint as a salesman he became a supervisor for the Iowa Highway Department, a job which he held for 20 years until his death October 24, 1965. Best was a member of the Y.M.C.A. and the Moose Lodge. Best was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame February 3, 1979.
