Duane Carlson

Duane Carlson was a four-year letter winner in football at Wayne State from 1974-1977. He earned Second Team NAIA All-American honors during his senior season in 1977 after moving from defensive line to linebacker, finishing the 1977 season with 146 tackles. He was a team captain and was selected defensive MVP in 1976 and 1977. The native of Hooper was also a team captain and selected All-Central States Intercollegiate Conference and All-NAIA District 11 during the 1977 season. Carlson went on to be the head football coach at his alma mater, Hooper Logan View High School, and was inducted into the Wayne State Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall of 1988 along with college teammate Bob Barry.
