About 25 students from Elkhorn schools competed in a TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) event Feb. 23 at Wayne State.

Students from Elkhorn North, Elkhorn South, and Elkhorn High Schools were at Wayne State College on Feb. 23 to participate in TEAMS competitions.

TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) is an annual science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competition that challenges middle school and high school student teams to work collaboratively to solve real-world engineering challenges, applying their math and science knowledge in practical and creative ways.

After participating in TEAMS, students increase their knowledge of engineering, feel more confident about participating in STEM activities, and increase their ability to work with others to solve problems, according to the TEAMS website.

Teams of two to four students compete in person on competition day for state awards. Teams whose combined overall state level score is among the top nationally will be eligible to compete for Best-in-Nation at the 2024 National TEAMS Competitions.
