Kevin Swayne

Kevin established many receiving records during his two years (1995-96) at Wayne State College. Swayne hauled in a school-record 21 receptions for 236 yards in a 1996 game against Drake University, ranking third all-time in NCAA Division II for receptions in a single game. In just two seasons, Swayne had 144 catches for 2,091 yards. At the time of his induction, Swayne still held the single season receiving yardage record at WSC with 1,273 in 1996. Swayne went on to star in the Arena Football League, which led to a three-year stint with the New York Jets of the National Football League. He started his AFL career with the Iowa Barnstormers in 1998 and tied an AFL single-game record with seven touchdown catches in a New York Dragons game on July 7, 2001. Swayne is the Dragons/Barnstormers career leader in yards gained with 4,719 and touchdown catches with 95. Swayne then played three seasons for the New York Jets of the NFL, totaling 20 catches for 310 yards and one touchdown. After being released by the Washington Redskins this off-season, Swayne was re-signed by the New York Dragons of the AFL, agreeing to a two-year deal. Swayne was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 16, 2004.
