String Ensemble and Mariachi Negro y Oro Concert Set for April 26

The Wayne State College String Ensemble and Mariachi Negro y Oro concert explores beauty and wonder through music on Wednesday, April 26. The 7:30 p.m. performance takes place on the Peterson Fine Arts Patio. This event is free and open to the public.

Repertoire for the String Ensemble includes the graceful “Lullaby” by William Hofeldt, the thrilling “Across the Wind” by Doug Spata, and the well-known, patriotic “1812 Overture” by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The String Ensemble is directed by adjunct professor Jordyn Irlmeier.

Mariachi Negro y Oro delivers traditional Mexican music featuring an instrumental mix of trumpet, violin, vihuela, guitar, and guitarrón. The group is directed by Dr. Josh Calkin, WSC Director of Bands.
