Festival of Honor Bands Celebrates Junior High, High School Talent

The Honor Band Concert is set for Saturday, Jan. 28, in Rice Auditorium.

The annual Festival of Honor Bands Concert is set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, in Rice Auditorium. The Department of Music at Wayne State College hosts this day-long festival for junior high and high school students from more than 60 Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota schools. Concert admission is $5.

Students must audition to participate in the festival. They rehearse most of the day with one of three clinicians. This year’s clinicians include Dr. Randy Neuharth, retired music instructor from Northeast Community College; Todd Cook, instrumental music director at Norfolk Public School; and Michael Genslinger, Wayne State College assistant director of bands.
