COVID-19 Update: WSC's Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions

March 19, 2020 - Answers to frequently asked questions regarding campus operations, housing and meal plan refunds, academic delivery, class registration, and more.

Dear Wayne State students,

In a continuing effort to address your questions and concerns, please see the following information that provides answers to the issues you have raised with us in the past few days. We appreciate your continued feedback as we resume classes through remote delivery beginning March 23.

The following are the most frequently asked questions and their answers:

Campus services

Wayne State residence halls, dining hall, Conn Library, Kanter Student Center, academic support services, and the Campus Service Center remain open.

Housing and meal plan refunds

Students who choose to return to their permanent place of residence will receive refunds for housing and meal plans. Off-campus students can also select to receive a meal plan refund. These refunds will be processed by April 10, 2020. Please monitor your email from Wayne State for an estimated amount of your refund that will be credited to your student account. Refunds will be issued either by direct deposit for those already in our system or by check mailed to your permanent address. You can sign up for direct deposit with Wayne State through WildcatsOnline (step-by-step directions: https://www.wsc.edu/directory_record/18112/student_direct_deposit_enrollment).

Book rental returns

Students have a 15-day extension until May 23 for return of rental books. You can ship your books back by printing a FedEx label from your rental account that provides free shipping.

Commencement

Graduation has not been canceled at this time. The College anticipates making a decision about commencement in early April.

Tech survey 

The technology and connectivity survey is still live at https://bit.ly/2QmvOA5. If you have not completed the survey, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Communications from professors for academic delivery plans

We have reached out to all faculty members where students indicated they had not received their academic delivery plans. Please note that faculty may be posting these within Canvas, sending to your WSC email account, or sending to your preferred email that you have noted in WildcatsOnline. If you have checked these locations and still have not received a plan, please use the form at https://bit.ly/3daGyvq or the COVID-19 hotline at 402-375-7562.

Student mail and packages

Wayne State can forward your packages to your permanent place of residence or you can pick them up when you come back to campus during normal business hours or by arrangement with Student Services at 402-375-7213.

Fall registration and housing applications

Fall registration will happen as scheduled. Please look for communication from your advisor to set a time, date, and method of communication to get registered for Fall 2020. You can also apply for Fall 2020 housing now by logging into myWSC, selecting the “Show More Applications” icon and choosing “StarRez Housing Application” from the list of applications available.
