Dear Wayne State Students,

Update on campus housing and meal plans

Thank you for your patience regarding housing and meal plans.  As we have been working on a plan, we have heard your feedback and integrated it into our planning process.  First, I want to clarify that our residence halls and dining services remain open to anyone who wishes to reside and/or dine on campus

Second, for students who have returned or want to return to your place of permanent residence, we will provide you with a 60% refund of the prorated room and board costs for the rest of the spring semester.

Students who have decided to no longer live in the residence halls and/or use their meal plan are asked to complete the following checkout form by March 23:  https://bit.ly/2QoupZU.  This also applies to off-campus students who no longer wish to use their meal plan.  Students no longer living on campus (or using their meal plan) who complete the form by March 23 will receive the refund prorated to March 15. Students who remain in residence halls and/or use meal plans who decide to check out after March 23 will receive a prorated refund based on the week of your departure date, but need to take no action at this time.  The amount of the refund will be based on your checkout date (your last date of living in the residence hall/using your meal plan) as well as room and meal plan selections.

To be sensitive to the impact of this change, once you declare your checkout date, you will not be required to remove your belongings until the end of the semester. This will provide you with an opportunity to make plans to return to campus at your convenience to remove your belongings.

When you are ready to move your belongings out of your residence hall room, campus housing will facilitate an express process:

  1. Pick up an envelope from the front desk of your Residence Hall
  2. Move out all belongings and clean your room
  3. Lock your room door
  4. Put your key into the envelope and seal it
  5. Note your name and date on the envelope
  6. Sign the envelope and place it in the key box at the hall desk

Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience as we work through this public health emergency.

If you have any questions, please call WSC’s COVID-19 hotline at 402-375-7562. You can stay up to date on all of the College’s actions at www.wsc.edu/covid19.

Sincerely,

Marysz Rames
