We are rolling out our new network design for campus, starting in the Center for Applied Technology.
Greetings from NATS, everyone!
As we’ve mentioned a few times in newsletters and e-mails, we are rolling out our new network design for campus, starting in the Center for Applied Technology.
This will mean a couple of minor changes for folks during transition when some buildings are running the ‘old’ design and some are running the ‘new’ design:
- The WSC-Secure network will be available in both ‘old design’ buildings and ‘new design’ buildings, but login information will not be shared between the two, so if you move between buildings, you may be prompted to login to wireless again. This should only happen once and then you’ll be logged in to both systems.
- For wired (i.e. lab and office) connections in ‘old design’ buildings, you will see a couple of messages during the logon process:
- Logging you into the network (appears for 3 or 4 seconds)
- Unable to log you in the network. Logging in anyway (appears very briefly).
These messages are a function having our computers configured for the new design but the network in the building being on the old design. They can be ignored and your machine will continue to function normally.
We will be working with building managers and transitioning buildings from the ‘old’ design to the new throughout the next few months, starting with wireless in US Conn Library.
This afternoon, we will transition the wireless in the Library to the new design, which should facilitate ensuring that most people are logged into both the new and old design wireless systems.
Thanks for your patience through this transition!!
Happy holidays from all of us in NATS - enjoy your break!
