Wayne State College To Host Family Day on Sept. 15

A fun-filled weekend for current students and their families!

The Student Activities Board (SAB) and the Student Affairs Office of Wayne State College will welcome students and their families for Family Day on Sept. 15. 

10 a.m. - noon, Registration - Kanter Student Center Atrium
Guests may pick up a campus map, purchase discounted football game tickets, purchase meal bundle tickets, pick up free planetarium tickets, register for the Little Siblings Weekend, and receive general information about the day’s activities. (Discounted football tickets are only available at this time.)

9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Wayne State Bookstore
The Wayne State College Bookstore will be open and is located in the atrium of the Kanter Student Center. 

10 a.m. - Noon, Balloon Brigade and Arts and Crafts - Kanter Student Center Atrium
Includes all ages.

11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Family Day Brunch - Kanter Student Center Cafeteria
All you-care-to-eat omelets, scrambled eggs, French toast, roast beef, spaghetti with marinara or meat sauce, chicken breast with wild rice, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, soup, salad bar, dessert bar, hard and soft serve ice cream, beverages and more! $8 per person; $5 for children 10 and younger (3 and younger are free). 

11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., Planetarium Shows – Carhart Science Building
11 a.m. show: STARS
Noon show: Earth, Moon and Sun
1 p.m. show: The Stars We Don’t See
2 p.m. show: Astronaut
3 p.m. show: Compass, Calendar and Clock
All shows are free with tickets. Tickets available at the Kanter Student Center Information Desk in the atrium.

Noon to 2 p.m., Games
Games on the Green will be sponsored by Residence Hall Association, SAB and Active Minds. Outdoor games and activities will be on the band field, north of Lot #10. Enjoy kite flying, lawn games, chalk and other activities for all ages with family and friends.

1 to 3 p.m., Tours
Guided tours of academic buildings and residence halls will last 15 to 30 minutes. Everyone is welcome to sign up for the tours at the Residence Hall Association (RHA) table in the Kanter Student Center atrium from 10 a.m. to noon. 

4 - 6 p.m. Family Day Dinner - Kanter Student Center Cafeteria
All-you-care-to-eat BBQ sandwiches, bratwurst, hot dogs, hamburgers/cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, French fries, pasta bar, bread sticks, salad bar, dessert bar, hard and soft serve ice cream, beverages and more! $8 per person; $5 for children 10 and younger (3 and younger are free). Meal bundle (purchasing brunch and dinner tickets): $15 per person; $10 for children 10 and younger (age 3 and younger are free).

4:30 p.m. through the third quarter of the football game, Photo Booth

5 - 6 p.m., Tailgate Party
Join other Wildcat fans for a tailgate party at the south end zone (Recreation Center if weather is inclement). Typical tailgate fare with grilled items, chips and soda. Adults - $8 per person; younger than 12 years old - $5.

6 p.m., Football Game
Wayne State College vs Augustana, Stadium/Cunningham Field; gates open at 4:30 p.m. Enjoy collegiate football and be entertained by the Wildcat Marching Band, Flag Corps and Yell Squad. Discounted early sales tickets at the Kanter Student Center atrium (10 a.m. to 1 p.m. only). Discounted early tickets - adults $5; children K-12 $3. General admission tickets - adults $10; senior (62 and older) $8; children K-12 $5; preschool and younger children are free. Fireworks will be set off immediately after the game.

Little Siblings Overnight Weekend
The Office of Residence Life invites relatives (6 to 16 years old) to spend the night or the weekend on campus with their older brother or sister for Little Siblings Weekend. A variety of age-appropriate activities will be sponsored throughout the weekend. 
Cousins, friends and neighbors are allowed. Students are permitted to host a maximum of four siblings. Should students need to request more guests, please contact the Office of Residence Life. Overnight guest stay will be Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14 and 15 in their relative’s residence hall room. Registration to stay overnight required by completing forms available via email or via the registration table located in the Kanter Student Center from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 15, 2018. T-shirt order forms will not be available at the registration table. T-shirts must be ordered by Aug. 31, 2018.
